Landscapes ≠ Boring

2 Nov

The landscape is one of the oldest and most studied forms of artistic expression. Something about blue skies and rolling hills seems to trigger a guttural human reaction to grab your oils and get paintin.’

Fortunately, landscapes have come a long way since their romantic heyday. Today, Dutch artist Levi van Veluw continues the tradition of innovation with his recent work, which studies the landscape-like qualities of the human face. This series is a self-portrait, intended to evoke “the obsession inherent in the romantic landscape of recreating the world and simultaneously being part of it.”
